That brisk cool in the air doesn’t signify the arrival of fall. No, it signifies something far greater, college basketball season. The Bulls tip-off the season against Vermont this Saturday. The Men’s basketball team looked very solid in their exhibition match against University of Tampa. They cruised to an easy victory with a final scoreline of 73-45. Look for Anderson Jr. and Gilchrist to be significant contributors this season. The Bulls are very hungry for success and look to open the season strong. They are projected to finish 14th in the Big East this year. However, this Bulls team looks different. They are talented, united, and hungry and that is a very good formula for success. The start of the season can’t get here fast enough. Go Bulls!

Is anyone else sorely disappointed with the recent play of the USF football team? Every time it seems that we’ve finally got the right game plan and we appear to be executing, we lose! Daniels played spectacularly against Rutgers and our defense couldn’t come up with critical stops. It is very frustrating for all Bulls fans considering the magnificent start to the season. The Bulls were favored to contend with the likes of West Virginia for the top of the standings. The Bulls are currently last in the Big East Conference with a conference record of 0-4. That is absolutely horrid! We also hold the worst record in the conference with a mediocre 4-4. It is very disheartening to witness the losing streak because the Bulls have been competitive in all four of the recent defeats. We’ve heard the optimistic talks from the coaching staff but it’s almost inexplicable how the Bulls keep coming up short in these games. There are three marquee games coming up, Miami, Louisville and West Virginia. Perhaps the Bulls will rise to the occasion. They seemed to perform well against marquee opponents. Hopefully, the Bulls can end the season on a positive note and salvage a couple of conference victories. Even though it has been a very disappointing season, Go Bulls!

In thrilling fashion the USF Men’s soccer team lost to Villanova 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Bulls played in front of a raucous crowd of over 1,500. The game was as memorable as the Bulls magnificent season. USF entered the game as the sixth best team in the nation and looked to roll through the Big East quarterfinal. However, the Bulls couldn’t overcome an early goal from Villanova. USF was on the attack for most of the game. They had great possession, switched the point of the attack and maintained strong build-up play. The game came down to the final moments as USF secured a late corner. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be because the Bulls came up short. It was disappointing for the seniors but this team is extremely talented and will be a formidable presence heading into next season.

A round of applause for the USF Men’s soccer team. They defeated Cincinnati 3-0 and claimed a Big East division title. This was the perfect ending to a memorable senior night. Dom Dwyer scored 2 goals tonight to add to his astonishing goal total on the season. The #6 ranked Bulls will be making a run at the Big East title soon and are in incredible form. Once again the back line anchored the Bulls. The midfield was slightly sluggish but the forwards played exceptionally well and the scoreline reflects that. USF takes on Rutgers this Sunday. Go Bulls!

The USF Men’s Soccer Team is ranked #6 in the nation. That is definitely something to be proud of. With the disappointment of the football team and the temporary absence of basketball, the soccer team is quite a standout. Senior Night is tomorrow night so come out and support the guys. Go Bulls!

The USF Men’s soccer team seems to be one of the only men’s team winning currently. The 8th ranked Bulls came back from a 1 goal deficit to defeat Villanova 2-1 on Saturday night. The Bulls are in excellent form lately, playing with tremendous confidence. The squad is anchored by a solid back line, great goalkeeping, and dazzling scoring from Dom Dwyer.
The Bulls did concede an early goal to Villanova but appeared unaffected playing from behind. They controlled possession throughout the game and created plenty of chances. The ball movement for USF was very fluid. The Bulls midfield helped maintain possession on the Villanova half. The entire second half the Bulls kept Villanova penned on their side defending their own net. The Bulls expertly switched the point of attack continuously and kept the Villanova defense off-balance. This comeback win for the Bulls is their sixth-straight victory. The season is winding down and the Bulls look quite formidable heading into the final stretch of games. The post season is looking like the perfect setting for the Bulls to showcase their talents. Go Bulls!

It’s a tough day for USF football. USF lost its third straight conference game and more significantly the homecoming game. The game was highly competitive and entertaining as Cincinnati and USF battled it out with a final scoreline of 37-34. The Bulls scored late in the game to take the lead but Cincinnati drove right down the field with under 1:30 left and won the game on quarterback run.
The Bulls had great production out of the offense. Quarterback, B.J. Daniels threw for 409 yards with 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. He also rushed for 54 yards. He had a huge game this afternoon and really kept the Bulls in the game. Unfortunately, turnovers were a huge problem for the Bulls. They committed five turnovers altogether this afternoon. The defense wasn’t such a dominating force this afternoon as they were against UConn. They weren’t able to create as many turnovers nor prevent Cincinnati from driving 70 yards down the field in the final minute of the game.
This was a disappointing loss on homecoming because it seemed as if the Bulls would nab a victory. Both sides of the ball never seem to be firing on all cylinders for the Bulls. Last week the defense played lights out and the offense struggled. Today the offense was hot and the defense couldn’t make important stops. Hopefully, the Bulls can use the upcoming bye week to re-focus and finally gain a conference win against Rutgers in 2 weeks.

Defensive Coach Mark Snyder sat down again for his weekly interview. He spoke about the upcoming homecoming game against Cincinnati and the improved performance of the defense against UConn. Coach Snyder said he was glad that the defense played with greater energy and bounced back. He noted that the defensive players executed well during the game and this can be attributed to strong practices. Coach Snyder ensured that the defense was prepared for the possibility of a mobile quarterback, something they failed to prepare for against Pitt. Overall, Snyder said he was pleased with the play of his defense last week only wishing they could have capitalized on even more turnovers.

In regards to Cincinnati, Coach Snyder emphasizes the need to stop the run. He praises the competitive and tenacious attitude of Cincinnati quarterback, Collaros. The focus and energy was the key for the Bulls’ defense returning to form after the bye week. Cincinnati is second in the conference and this could be a huge statement game for the Bulls’, who are sitting at the bottom of the standings. If the Bulls’ defense can continue its excellent play and the offense can get back on track, this game is very winnable for USF. With the raucous home atmosphere the Bulls should be very motivated to come out and play a strong game this Saturday. Go Bulls!
