USF Vs. No.19 UCF

South Florida (14-7) will take on their inner state rival the  No. 19 Central Florida Knights (16-5).  This game should be a thriller considering the Bulls, who have won 5 of their last 6 games, will  be airing live on BHSN TV.

The Central Florida Knight, who are 12-3 in their last 15 games, are having their best season since 2001 (51-14).  The Knights enter tonight’s game coming off a three game sweep of the Harvard Crimson; in which, they only allowed ten runs. In contrarily, the Bulls have gone on an offensive tear, averaging 7.5 runs in their past four games.

The Bulls will send Derrick Stultz to the mound, who is 3-0 with a 1.93 ERA and is currently the team leader in strikeouts.  On the offense end, the Bulls will rely on their lead off man, Alex Mendez, who has a .306 batting average and is second on the team with 14 RBIs.  The Knights will start Ray Hanson, who is 4-2 with a 3.47 ERA and has held opponent to a .210 batting average with two outs.  The Knight’s offense is anchored by Junior D.J. Hicks, who had  a .351 batting average and 14 home runs in 2011.

When the teams played in late Feburary, the Bulls got belittled by a 12-1 loss.  The first match up againt Central Florida  became the turning point in the Bulls season and since the loss, the Bulls, have had a 10-3 record.  I pick the Bulls to pull through with a 4-2 victory over the Knights.
