New USF men’s basketball coach Bryan Hodgson made it official on Monday: He is getting the band back together.
Hodgson formally announced the addition of four assistant coaches who were on his staff at Arkansas State when the Red Wolves won a program-record 25 games this past season. The moves come as no surprise after Hodgson took the job at USF..
Tee Butters, Jamie Quarles, Derek Rongstad, and Logan Ingram are joining the coaching roster. It's not known if there will be additional staff hires.
"I couldn't be more excited about the staff we've assembled here at South Florida. These are high-character guys who care deeply about our players and the championship program we are building here in Tampa." - @CoachBHodgson #HornsUp 🤘 https://t.co/4FJ3K5qT6p

Butters will have the role of associate head coach with the Bulls. He had the same position at Arkansas State after coming there after previously serving in the same role under Hodgson at Arkansas State.
Butters spent nine seasons in various roles at Charleston Southern. Hodgson noted that Butters excels at developing backcourt talent.
Quarles comes to USF as an assistant coach after serving as associate head coach with Hodgson. He is expected to have a key role in what Hodgson promised will be a go-go, high-scoring offense for the Bulls.
He also served six seasons at Buffalo when Hodgson was an assistant there before going to Alabama.
Rongstad spent the last two seasons at Arkansas State, where Hodgson noted he excelled in opponent preparation, recruiting, and talent evaluation.
While at Arkansas State, Ingram rose from video coordinator to director of scouting and analytics.
“I couldn’t be more excited about the staff we’ve assembled here at South Florida,” Hodgson said. “Tee, Jamie, Derek, and Logan each bring a unique skill set that makes us better as a program every single day. Tee has been a right hand for me—his leadership, recruiting connections, and ability to develop talent, especially in the backcourt, are second to none.
“Jamie is one of the sharpest offensive minds I’ve worked with, and his track record of winning speaks for itself. Derek’s work ethic and attention to detail in scouting and recruiting make him an invaluable asset, and Logan brings a fresh, modern approach with his analytical background and deep understanding of the game. More than anything, these are high-character guys who care deeply about our players and the championship program we are building here in Tampa.”
There have been reports on Twitter that former Iona head coach Tobin Anderson would join the USF staff, but there has been no confirmation of that.
