With the start of USF's summer football training camp just a few weeks away, Bulls fans will need a little time to adjust to the rebuilt roster.
New head coach Brian Hartline and his staff brought in 41 players through the Transfer Portal. Of those, 28 came from power conferences and 13 of those were 4-star or above in high school.
But at Green, Gold and Bold, we're here to help. Fans who've paid attention throughout the off season probably know some of the bigger names like quarterbacks Michael Bennett, Jr. and Luke Kromenhoek. They may recognize wide receiver Bryson Rodgers, who played at Wiregrass High School just north of Tampa.
However, we're going to introduce you to some guys we'll classify as players worth learning about. You may not know anything about them now, but we're banking that as the season goes on you'll be pleased that they're wearing green and gold.
DT Major Dillard: This is a large man -- 6-foot-2, 330 pounds. He arrived at USF from Norfolk State after two seasons at Division II Chowan University. Remember how the Bulls got occasionally gashed by opposing running games? Try running over this guy.
For such a big man, Dillard is said to have good speed. And during spring practice, he made a good impression on defensive coordinator Josh Aldridge.
"He's had an incredible camp so far," Aldridge said at about the midpoint of the camp.
Madden's 2026 college football game rates his strength at 89, which basically means he can dead lift a Mack truck. He also is rated at 90 for injury, which means he is very durable.
LB/Jack Zavier Hamilton: He isn't a newcomer - he joined USF in 2024 - but he may be ready to step into prominent role on a defense that returns only one starter from last year (safety Tavin Ward).
He had offers from 16 power conference programs after coming out of Fort Walton Beach. Programs interested in services included Notre Dame, Auburn, Georgia, Florida State, and LSU.
He has good speed and instincts, and after appearing in 12 games last year for the Bulls he should be ready to step into a full-time role.
WR Cameron Seldon: You know about Brian Hartline's reputation with wide receivers. If anyone can unlock Seldon's potential, Hartline can.
Seldon has elite speed and has played three seasons of Division I ball already -- two at Tennessee, and one at Virginia Tech. He also played at running back with the Vols.
In high school, he was a Virginia state champion in the 100 meters,
In his high school scouting report, 247Sports praised him as an "Elite level prospect with build to play early in college at Top 15 program. Potential to be early-round NFL draft selection."
OG Caleb Cook: You may not focus on the offensive line, but you can bet USF's quarterbacks and running backs will. And at 6-foot-3, 315 pounds, Cook will be hard to miss.
He joins the Bulls as a graduate student after six -- yes, six -- seasons at Georgia Southern.
But between redshirts and injuries, Cook emerged as a top player at his position. He was first team All Sun Belt Conference last year, and he'll basically be a plug-and-play guy for the Bulls.
And if you thought Major Dillard was strong with an 89 Madden rating, consider this: Madden rates Cook's strength at 91. Not only that, it gave him the highest overall rating on the Bulls.
