Here's a public service announcement for my friends at Auburn University: lighten up.
It is true that former USF quarterback Byrum Brown had a lousy stat line in Auburn's spring game. He led no scoring drives. He threw two interceptions and lost a fumble after another former Bull, center Cole Best, snapped the ball over Brown's head.
He was just 7-for-14 passing.
“To be honest with you, I didn’t think Byrum saw it great today,” former USF coach Alex Golesh told reporters afterward. “I thought he was efficient in what he needed to do, but I don’t think he saw it great in the middle of the field.”
Both interceptions came on passes in the middle of the field.
Oh, and backup Tristan Ti'a was 15-of-20 for179 yards and a touchdown.
That was enough for the Auburn Twitter mob to release the hounds.
Yikes: Auburn QB Byrum Brown has gone viral for his "strange" throwing motion at training camp.

Brown was ranked as a top 5 player overall in the transfer portal and there are high expectations for him this year.
Should Auburn fans be concerned about the USF transfer? pic.twitter.com/3aoGoxZSIh
Yes, those of us who follow USF football will acknowledge that Brown isn't the classic dropback passer with a perfect throwing form.
But we also saw Brown make many plays that shouldn't have been possible. And if War Eagle doubts Brown's toughness, look at this score last year when he went out of his way to flatten a Boise State defender at the goal line.

Y'all need to chill.
While Brown might not be a traditional quarterback, the dude wins.
He makes plays. He is a leader.
Brown often took a beating during his time at USF because the Bulls were in a complete rebuild after Golesh took over after Jeff Scott's reign of error. Brown got knocked down and got right back up, except for the time he had a broken leg at Tulane.
It's actually kind of funny to hear the Auburn freak out after the A-Day game. Goodness gracious, folks. I know they say it just means more in the SEC, but get a grip.
I looked up some of your recent quarterback history, and it's not good. Believe me when I tell that Byrum Brown is a significant upgrade.
You'll find that out soon enough.
