New USF baseball coach Mitch Hannahs made a splash on National Signing Day with the 25th-ranked class in the country, according to the scouting site Perfect Game. It’s USF’s best showing in those rankings since it landed the No. 3 class in 2015.

USF will make the formal announcement of its signees in the coming days.

South Florida’s 2025 class is the highest-ranked among teams in the American Athletic Conference. East Carolina is the next highest at No. 48. USF’s

USF opens the 2025 season on February 14 at home against Iowa.


Hannahs, hired in June to replace Billy Mohl, was the 2023 ABCA NCAA DI Midwest Region Coach of the Year. He led his alma mater at Indiana State to 355 wins, six conference championships, and five trips to the NCAA regionals from 2014-24.


The Bulls finished 26-29 last season, their latest in three consecutive losing seasons.
They have not been to the NCAA Tournament since 2018.
