One more Gramatica with a flair for the dramatica will head to USF in 2026

Martin Gramatica was a legendary kicker with the Buccaneers. His two sons -- Nico and Gaston -- are carrying on the family tradition. Nico is likely to be USF's main kicker this season, having committed to joining the Bulls next year. And, oh yeah, their uncles -- Bill and Santiago -- are already in the USF record book. | MPS-Imagn Images

The Gramatica name is already legendary in Tampa Bay sports, and the USF football team is getting its kicks by signing every available member of the family.

Gaston Gramatica of Tampa’s Cambridge Christian High is the latest G-man to commit to kicking for the Bulls. He announced on X that he’ll join his brother, Nico, in the USF kicking room when he arrives in 2026.

They follow in the footsteps of their uncle, Bill Gramatica, who kicked for three seasons for the Bulls after transferring from Florida State.

He owns the team record with a 63-yard field goal, and it's one of the longest in college football history. Bill’s brother, Santiago, kicked for the Bulls from 2001-04. The two brothers combined for 74 field goals in their seven-year run in the family business.

And, of course, the patriarch of the family – Martin Gramatica – kicked nine years in the NFL, including five with the Tampa Bay Bucs. He was an essential contributor to the Bucs' 2002 Super Bowl championship season.

Martin is the father of Nico and Gaston. He was also one of the most entertaining kickers this side of Garo Yepremian, dancing exuberantly after every successful kick. He would jump as high as his 5-foot-8 frame could manage, waving his arms in delight.

The crowd loved it.

Last year, as a freshman, Nico showed a flair for the dramatica. He recovered a fumbled kickoff return at Alabama and blasted field goals of 58 and 51 yards against Miami.

He was also the primary kickoff man for the Bulls and became the choice for extra-long field goal attempts. He’ll likely inherit the full-time field goal job since John Cannon, the player he shared duties with, entered the transfer portal.

Gaston chose the Bulls over offers from Texas and North Carolina.

He was 13-of-19 last year in field goals for Cambridge Christian, including a 55-yarder. He was also perfect on 23 PAT attempts.
