In the ranking of all-time USF quarterbacks, Quinton Flowers leads the way
No. 3: Marquel Blackwell.
The Bulls were an independent during Blackwell’s career, which lasted 42 games from 1999 to 2002. During that time, he threw 67 touchdowns while leading the Bulls to a 30-12 record, including 9-2 in his senior season.
He was inducted into the USF Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013.
Maybe his most notable win came in 2001, USF’s first season playing as a full FBS member. The Bulls were heavy underdogs on the road against Pittsburgh, but Blackwell put on a show that the Panthers weren’t prepared for.
He threw 65 times that day and completed 37 for 343 yards and four touchdowns as the Bulls stunned Pitt 35-26.
They finished 8-3 and finished the season with six wins in a row.
Honorable mentions:
B.J. Daniels (2008-12), 52 TDs, 39 interceptions. Explosive, elusive. He also rushed for 25 touchdowns before a broken leg ended his USF career.
Chad Barnhardt (1997-98) He was the quarterback for USF’s first two seasons
Mike White (2013-14, transferred to Western Kentucky and later played for the New York Jets.
