USF men's basketball learns its first-round opponent at the Myrtle Beach Invitational
The USF men’s basketball schedule has been firmed up with the announcement that the Bulls will play Portland on November 21 in their first game of the Myrtle Beach Invitational.
Tipoff is at 2:30 p.m.
The Pilots of the West Coast Conference were 12-21 last season and, at one point, lost 13 of 16 games. At one point in the season, they were down to seven scholarship players because of injuries.
This will be the first meeting between USF and Portland.
Other teams participating in the tournament include Bradley, Middle Tennessee, Ohio University, Princeton, Texas State, and Wright State.
USF finished with a school-record 25 wins last season and advanced to the second round of the NIT but has undergone significant roster changes since then.
Mainstays Chris Youngblood, Selton Miguel, and Kasean Pryor all transferred to other schools, but Kobe Knox and AAC Freshman of the Year Jayden Reid return. The Bulls also added highly touted freshman guard C.J. Brown of Marietta, Ga.
USF also recently finalized its 2024-25 AAC home and away opponents:
Home and away: Memphis, Florida Atlantic, UAB, Temple, Wichita State, and East Carolina.
Home-only opponents: North Texas, Tulsa, and Rice.
Away-only opponents: Charlotte, Tulane, and UTSA.
The Bulls open the season in Jacksonville on November 4 against the Florida Gators.
