If you want to be the best, you have to compete against the best, and that's just what USF's women's basketball will do this upcoming season.

The Bulls earned a splash headline when they announced that they have scheduled a home-and-home series against the defending national champion South Carolina Gamecocks.

The first game in the series will be played in Columbia, S.C. on December 15 of this year. South Carolina will visit USF at a date to be determined in the 2025-26 season.

Earlier this summer, head coach Jose Fernandez chose to stay at USF after being approached by the University of Miami for its vacant head coaching position. He will be entering his 25th season as USF’s head coach.

Under his leadership, the Bulls have risen to national prominence as interest in women’s basketball soars. Tampa will be the host city for the 2025 Women’s Final Four, and Fernandez also serves as vice president of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.
