Three USF baseball players received some good news Sunday. They were chosen in the Major League Baseball draft.

The Bay Area Examiner reported that outfielder Ryan Pruitt, pitcher Edwin Alicea, and pitcher Ethan Sutton heard their names called as the two-day draft came to a close.

Pruitt was chosen by the Houston Astros with the 271st pick in the draft. Alicea went to Detroit at pick No. 426, and Sutton was taken by the Los Angeles Dodgers at pick No. 493.

Additionally, three members of USF's incoming recruiting class were chosen: pitcher Tyson Grulkowski by Atlanta, with pick No. 112, catcher Leo Marrero by Baltimore at No. 350, and shortstop Max Irving by the Dodgers at No. 553.

Pruitt hit .275 this season with 27 RBI while batting leadoff for the Bulls. He led the team in games played (53), at-bats (193), and runs scored (48).

Pruitt tied for the team lead with 33 walks and his 11-game hitting streak was the longest on the roster. He also had 20 stolen bases on 24 attempts.

Alicea, a lefty, was a versatile workhorse for the Bulls. He made 19 appearances, including 10 starts. He had 60 strikeouts in 72.1 innings with a mid-90s fastball. He finished 6-5 with a 5.23 ERA.

Sutton, a redshirt sophomore who had entered the Transfer Portal, was the Bulls' closer. He had nine saves and 20 appearances -- the most of any pitcher. He came to USF this season from Georgia, where he was part of a team that advanced to the NCAA Super Regional in 2024.

He missed the 2025 season after undergoing arm surgery.

Sutton has a big-time arm with a fastball that can clock in the high 90s.

Grulkowski figured to be a key member of USF's recruiting class. He was rated as the No. 2 in prospect in Wisconsin's 2026 class. A 6th-round pick usually receives a signing bonus ranging between $300,000 to $370,000.
