It's always recruiting season in college football but some weeks are more important than others. That's true right now at USF, which is hosting 12 recruits this weekend making their official on-campus visits.

And it's when new USF head coach Brian Hartline will have the chance to show that his reputation as an elite recruiter is not just hype.

Obligatory disclaimer: "Commitments" at this time of year can change in a moment, especially in the NIL era. Nothing is official until a player actually signs with a program. That won't happen until early December.

Bulls247.com reported the list includes eight defensive prospects and four on offense. Perhaps the most interesting name is Angelo Smith, a safety from Hollywood Chaminade Preparatory School. He is the brother of star Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith and Angelo has committed to the Buckeyes for 2027.

247Sports ranks Smith as the No. 41 safety nationally and as the No. 48 player in Florida. He told that site that he likely will choose between the Buckeyes and Bulls after concluding both visits. If Smith chooses the Bulls, he would make his collegiate debut at the inaugural game at USF's on-campus stadium.

"Schools have been talking to me but I'm really just locked in on them two," Smith told told reporter Zach Blostein.

Bulls Insider reported that offensive lineman Austin Bentley of Calvary Day School in Savannah, Ga. committed to USF on the spot Saturday..He is 6-4, 280 pounds, and reportedly had offers from Wake Forest, Memphis, and Liberty.

Other players making their official visit include WR Austin Busso and DL Kindrid Outland, who had both already verbally committed to USF.

Busso attends Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, New Jersey. As a junior, he registered over 880 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns, averaging 22 yards per catch. He reportedly had offers from multiple Power 4 schools, including Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, and Tennessee.

Outland is 6-2, 270, and plays at Jacksonville Mandarin High. On3.com reported that he chose USF over offers from Toledo, Georgia Tech, Miami, and Syracuse.

Another name to watch is WR Julian Brown from Myrtle. Beach, S.C.

Bulls247 reported that he has multiple offers for track from SEC schools, but so far only USF, Coastal Carolina, and North Carolina A&T are his only football offers. However, the website noted, "he seemingly is a recruit the current (USF) staff has a ton of interest in and giving a track star a prominent role in a Hartline-led football team is really intruiging."
