The extreme makeover of USF's football roster since the end of last season is picking up steam. The Bulls announced on Wednesday released an updated spring roster that includes 41 players who entered through the Transfer Portal.

The number of players is likely to increase with high schoolers from the Class of 2026 committing on National Signing Day. The Bulls added 17 players on the early signing day in December. The current roster includes 12 4-star players coming out of high school. It also contains one who was a 5-star defensive end/linebacker, C.J. Hicks, formerly of Ohio State.

The current roster breakdown looks like this:

Defense: 10 cornerbacks, 6 defensive ends, 8 defensive tackles, 6 (hybrid/outside) "Jack" linebackers, 8 "regular" linebackers, 3 nose tackles, 9 safeties, 4 "star" hybrid positions that generally function as a linebacker and defensive back, capable of playing in space or closer to the line of scrimmage.

Offense: 17 offensive linemen, 4 quarterbacks,7 running backs, 7 tight ends, 12 wide receivers.

Special teams: 3 place-kickers, 3 long snappers, 1 punter.

The new additions means that more than half of the roster for first-year head coach Brian Hartline will include players who weren't at USF for the 2025 season. The Bulls do have 54 returning players a team that finished 9-4.

According to 247Sports, USF had 33 players leave the program through the portal. Of those, 13 players transferred to Auburn after former Bulls coach Alex Golesh was hired to lead the Tigers.

The Bulls portal class was ranked No. 1 in The American Conference and the best among all Group of 6 programs by 247Sports.
