The gap between USF men’s basketball and the top teams in the country got a little wider Saturday when the Bulls were beaten at undefeated Utah State 88-67.
USF fell to 5-5, while the Aggies improved to 10-0.
The Bulls trailed by only six points at the half, but the home-standing Aggies blew USF by 15 points in the final 20 minutes to pull away.
USF continued a troubling trend by committing 22 turnovers to over 12 by the home team.
“Even though it might not show on the scoreboard, we're growing as a team,” interim coach Ben Fletcher said. “And when you play championship-level teams like they showed it today in the second half.”
USF played without guard Jimmie Williams, who was sidelined by sickness.
“Jimmy got sick at some point after pregame today, so I don't know if it was a stomach bug. You know he was really sick. Couldn't go, so we missed him today because we could have used his offensive firepower,” Fletcher said.
