Three USF Bulls signed with NFL  teams as undrafted free agents.

Defensive lineman Decarius Hawthorne, 6-2 and 290 pounds, received a training camp invitation from the Buffalo Bills.

He transferred to USF in 2024 from Florida Atlantic and was a force on the interior defensive line. He led USF defensive linemen with 40 tackles and ranked second on the team with 10.5 tackles for loss.

Offensive tackle RJ Perry signed with the New York Giants.

Perry, who is 6-foot-6 and weighs 338 pounds, was rated 70.8 by Pro Football Focus on pass protection. That is considered above average for players at his position.

Record-setting punter Andrew Stokea received a minicamp invite from the New York Jets.

There is a possibility that more Bulls could receive the opportunity to sign with an NFL team. This story will be updated as necessary.

Softball takes a roller-coaster ride at North Texas

USF took two out of three from North Texas over the weekend in a critical series between the No. 2 and 3 teams in the American Athletic Conference, but they might need a moment to settle after a wild conclusion in Sunday's series finale.

Sitting at No. 2 in the standings, the Bulls appeared headed for a mercy-rule win in that game when things changed dramatically.

They held a 10-run lead heading into the bottom of the fifth when the home-standing Mean Green scored four times to stay alive.

USF again had North Texas on the ropes in the sixth but the home team scored four more runs to keep the game going. The same thing happened in the seventh, forcing extra innings before USF got the go-ahead run in the 10th on an RBI single by Josie Foreman. The Bulls held on this time for a 15-14 win.

USF had home runs in the game from Foreman and Camille Ortiz-Martinez. North Texas blasted five home runs, including three in the seventh with two outs to tie the game.

Baseball stays in second place after weekend series win

The Bulls launched three home runs Sunday and cruised to a 13-4 win at Wichita State. That gave USF two out of three in the weekend series for its fifth consecutive series win.

The Bulls are three games behind conference leader UTSA.

USF scored six times in the third inning Sunday and never looked back.

The Bulls are at Stetson on Tuesday before returning to Red McEwen Field on Friday for the start of a three-game series against UTSA.

The Bulls are 24-17 overall and 12-6 in the conference under first-year coach Mitch Hannahs. The win on Sunday meant they exceeded their AAC win total of 11 in 2024. They are also three wins away from topping last year’s 26-win season.

Lacrosse gears up for AAC tournament

Following a resounding 23-6 win over Stetson to close out the regular season, USF now prepares to face East Carolina on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Norfolk, Virginia.

The game will be carried on ESPN+.

USF finished 12-4 overall in its inaugural season and took second place in the AAC with a 4-2 mark.

The Bulls defeated East Carolina 23-9 on March 22 in Greenville, N.C.

If USF wins, it will face the winner between top-seeded James Madison and fourth-seeded Vanderbilt for the conference championship. That game is scheduled for Saturday, May 3, at noon. It will also be available on ESPN+.

Jake Peacock brings home another trophy

Jake Peacock became the first men’s golfer in AAC history to win consecutive individual championships when he first took place at the conference tournament in Sarasota.

Peacock fired rounds of 70-66-66 for a 14-under score of 202 in the three-day event.

He is a senior from Milton, Ga.

USF fell one stroke short of winning a second straight title as a team. The Bulls went through two playoff holes before succumbing to UNC Charlotte.
