The American Conference season didn't start off great for the USF women's basketball team but the Bulls didn't let that shake them.
Since dropping their opening conference game to Rice, the Bulls have reeled off three straight league wins -- the last two of which came on the road. The latest victory came Saturday when USF handled Memphis 90-81. That followed a five-point win at UAB. The win improved USF TO 10-7 overall and 3-1 in the American.
Although the Bulls led Memphis by four points at halftime, interim head coach Michele Woods-Baxter felt like the margin should have been greater. They picked up the pace when the second half started and kept Memphis at bay to secure the win.
"I thought they really came out the second half, determined to jump on them right away, and that's what we did," she said on USF's postgame radio show.
Guard Katie Davidson again led the way for USF, scoring a team-high 20 points for the second straight game. The Bulls had five players in double figures.

"I thought it was a great team effort," Woods-Baxter said. "I thought we shared the ball."
That they did. Edyn Battle scored 16 points, L'or Mputu had 15 points, her seventh game in double figures , along with eight rebounds..
Carla Brito had 14 points, her fifth game in double digits this season.
Fun stat: USF is 47-0 since 2000-01 when scoring at least 90 points.
