Series history: Miami leads 6-1.

What’s the weather? The high temperature forecast is in the mid-80s with muggy conditions and possible afternoon thunderstorms.

What are the odds: FanDuel has Miami favored by 17.5 points.

Miami in brief: The Hurricanes opened with a bang, defeating Notre Dame 27-24 in Miami on August 31. They followed that with a perfunctory 45-3 dismantling of Bethune-Cookman.

They have scored eight times in nine trips to the red zone, including six touchdowns. Quarterback Carson Beck, who transferred from Georgia, seems fully recovered from the ulnar collateral ligament injury he suffered last December to his throwing shoulder in the SEC championship game.

Including his time at Georgia, Beck has 185 pass attempts without an interception. He has a 26-3 record as a starting quarterback, the best of any FBS active player with a minimum of five games.

The Hurricanes also shine on special teams. They lead the nation in field goal percentage since 2020, with 87.5 percent of the kicks going through the uprights. They are 3-for-3 this season.

Miami has also won eight consecutive games at Hard Rock Stadium.

USF in brief: The so-called “gauntlet” to open the season for the Bulls has turned into a launching pad. After knocking off 25th-ranked Boise State to open the season, and then downing 13th-ranked Florida last week in Gainesville, the Bulls have become a national story with a chance to go nuclear if they beat the 'Canes.

Can they make it 3-for-3 this week? This will be the toughest challenge yet.

While quarterback Byrum Brown deserves a lot of praise for the 2-0 start, the Bulls’ defense is playing lights-out. They have allowed only two touchdowns and 23 total points this season. The 16 points Florida scored were its lowest total since 2023.

The Bulls also have dominated the third quarter in their first two games, outscoring Boise and Florida by a combined 23-0

Brown has thrown 240 consecutive passes without an interception, eclipsing Marquel Blackwell’s previous record of 235.
